📚 How to Play

Get started in minutes — no install required

1

Open the App

Visit play.reverstargo.com in your browser. No installation or registration needed. Works on any device — phone, tablet, or PC.

2

Set Your Name

Tap your name on the main screen to set a player name (up to 7 characters). You can skip this and play as "Player."

3

Learn the Rules

From the main screen, tap "Rules" to read the rulebook or try the Tutorial (interactive or watch mode). You can also check the Rules page.

4

Game Settings

Tap "Start Game" and choose:

Your color — Black (first) or White (second)
Mode — vs CPU or vs 2 Players
CPU Level — Lv.1 to FINAL (unlocked through ranks)

Choosing "vs 2 Players" also lets you set player names, the match format, a game clock, and play a remote opponent.

5

Play

Yellow dots mark placeable cells. Background colors mean: orange + white border = CP call restricted, red + white border = blocked by ko (playable as exception if a yellow dot is also shown). Tap to place a stone and flip your opponent's pieces. Don't forget you can also capture by surrounding!

When your move involves the Core Point (CP), you'll be asked to "call" Black or White.

6

Rank Up

Win against the CPU to climb the ranks. Higher ranks unlock stronger CPU levels and promotion exams. See the full rank system

7

Daily Challenges

Complete daily challenges to fill your calendar. Finish an entire month to earn a beautiful trophy! You can also go back and attempt past dates.

8

Play a Remote Opponent

Tap "Start Game" → "2-Player", and you'll find Play a Remote Opponent (Beta).

If you're inviting — tap "Create room" and a 4-digit number appears. Read it out over the phone or send it in a message.
If you're joining — tap "Join room" and type in the 4 digits you were given.

The game starts automatically once you connect. Whoever created the room plays Black (first). You can send short messages during the game, and if the connection drops, reconnecting picks up right where you left off.

⏱ Using the Game Clock

Options: 30s per move / 3m + 30s / 10m + 30s / 15m + 60s. Leave it on "None" if you'd rather not use one.

How byoyomi works: Just like in Go, the count resets after every move. Main time is per game, so it resets for game 2 of a Reverse Match.

If you run out: You only get a notice — the game continues. You never lose on time alone.

Playing remotely: The clock follows whoever created the room. The other player is asked to confirm the format before the game starts.

💡 Beginner Tips

Grab the tips: The star's points (corners) are the hardest cells to take back — prioritize them.

Capture by surrounding: Don't just flip — surrounding and capturing stones earns extra points.

Master the CP: The Core Point call is tricky at first, but a well-timed call can turn the game around.

Use hints: Keep hint dots ON while learning. Pay attention to the different colors!
